My partner (Phil Nelson) and I created a mobile search engine which was acquired by Quixey. We created an elegant user experience in which users would be matched with the most relevant type of result based upon their query. They were either given on-phone deep-link results (think Spotlight on steroids), new app recommendations, or web results (Google, etc.).
Our idea was to make it easy for individuals to find the right functionality for whatever need they had. Sometimes the right functionality can only be found in an app (Uber, Lyft, for example), while sometimes Google is all that’s necessary (for mere info-gathering tasks). Our product was the first one that brought all three types of results together into a simple Android app/widget.
